What is whaling and why it carried on today?
Whaling is the hunting and killing of whales for commercial, recreational or scientific purposes. But whales are hunted mainly for producing meat and oil. People dont realise that many products can be made with the resources from a whale. Things like lamp oil, margarine and cooking oil. Many household products are made from whale's oil like candles, soaps and cosmetics (skin products and perfumes). Things are made from the whales bone as well, like corsets and umbrellas. However, whale oil is not used very much in the modern age so whales are being hunt mainly for profit from their meat.
